Dr. Massimiliano Degani is a veterinary anaesthesiologist at the University of Liège, Belgium, specialising in locoregional anaesthesia for small and large animals. He is currently a Resident of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA) and a PhD candidate in Veterinary Anaesthesia at the Clinique Vétérinaire Universitaire of the University of Liège . Dr. Degani graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pisa in 2016. He further honed his expertise through an Erasmus+ traineeship at the University of Córdoba and a specialised internship in anaesthesia at the University of Murcia. From 2018 to 2021, he worked in the Anaesthesia Department of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the University of Pisa. In 2022, he obtained a Level II Master’s degree in Small Animals Anaesthesia and Intensive Care from the University of Pisa, presenting a thesis on the perioperative analgesic effects of quadratus lumborum block in laparoscopic ovariectomy . His research focuses on the clinical applications of ultrasound-guided interfascial plane blocks for perioperative pain management in dogs. Notably, his doctoral thesis, titled Ultrasound-guided interfascial plane blocks: clinical applications for perioperative pain management in dogs, was defended in April 2025.
